History

How We Began

God called Chuck and Sarah Evans to found The Church of Praise in 1976. They had come to know Christ in 1970 and were greatly impacted by the renewal and outpouring of the holy Spirit, which swept across America at that time.

The Church of Praise was birthed out of this revival which was characterized by joining honored traditions with fresh expressions of praise and worship. Thirty years later, the passion for Spirit-indwelling worship, a call to equip God’s people to minister, and a mission to go into all the world with the Gospel still provide a solid foundation for our expanding vision.
